Starbucks Caramel Macchiato’s  are my addiction. The closest Starbucks to me is over 60 kilometers from me. I know you can purchase their syrups, but I love the idea of making my own. This also allows me to give big corporations less of my money!

The recipe is incredibly easy and so delicious. Start with 2/3 cups of sugar and 1/3 cup of brown sugar in a pot with a cup of water. The ratio of sugar and water is 1 – 1. So,  its very easy to increase the amount of syrup you make. Add a pinch of sea salt and cook on medium high.

Stir the mixture a couple times to make sure everything is mixed and no sugar burns to the bottom. The color start to change as it comes to a boil.

 

 

Once it reaches a full boil,  set a time on your stove for 8 minutes. I don’t even bother stirring. 🙂

After 8 minutes. Turn the heat off and remove from the stove. You need to let it sit for 30 minutes before you can stir in a tablespoon of Vanilla Extract.

Make sure you use real vanilla extract. You shouldn’t cook with anything that says “artificial” right on the bottle. You can taste the difference when you use the real stuff. Store in the fridge.
